What’s with the dogs? Are they important?

Absolutely! Educators come in all shapes, sizes, and forms. Some walk on two legs and others walk on four. Our friendly, furry, four-legged faculty members and visitors assist throughout the school year. They provide moral support, comfort, a calming influence, and security for our students. They instigate social interaction. They teach responsibility. They administer anxiety prevention and de-escalation. They give unconditional affection. One is a most excellent lunch liberator. And they leave fur.

We could not summarize the role of our Canine Crusaders any better than a recent graduate…

“You hold us together and breathe emotion and life into our darkest days. You support us all, unconditionally, and beg only for our lunches and attention in return. Your solemn enactment of your heroic duties sustains the Broccoli Hall community, reminding us all of the initial joy when we discovered that the school we were visiting regularly hosted dogs. You maintain our message of welcome and sanctuary to all who discover our community. Your paws, small and large, and wagging tails bring happiness and love to our hearts.”
